Beckford Women’s Institute
Beckford WI is well established and in 2016 we had an active group of over 30 ladies. We meet in Beckford Village Hall on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7.30pm except August. New members are always welcome!
In addition to the monthly programme we organise theatre trips, local walks, craft sessions and skittles to name but a few! We also contribute to local community events.
We had a busy 2016, we had many varied Speakers visit us and one such visitor brought along her Hearing Dog, who showed us how she and her dog worked as a team in everyday life that we all take for granted. We supported the local Village Open Weekend with our many cakes and numerous cups of tea, this is a two yearly event so look out for the next one in 2018!! The Queens 90th Birthday was celebrated in April with knitting and Beckford was yarn bombed! The monthly walks were always excellent with gems of the local area being discovered. We covered Ashton to Paris and back in one of the walks, getting home in time for tea. We rounded off the year by going on a trip to Denman College for the day by minibus and of course attending the local carol concerts at Bredon and the Gloucestershire Federation Christmas Concert in the Town Hall in Cheltenham. And not forgetting our Christmas Fayre, where we excelled ourselves on our handicrafts, homemade Jams and Chutneys and served up lovely homemade cakes and cups of tea!
As we look forward to 2017, there are no signs of slowing down! Visitors are always welcomed to our meetings.

We had a visit to the BBC studios in Bristol and bumped into Adam Henson, who is a great fan of the WI.
